Spring Break

Lana and Calli at Manasota Beach

Spring Break!  Well I wish it were warmer but the weather isn’t a problem to the kids.  As soon as it stopped raining they were in the pool (water was 90 degrees)  while the adults sat around and watched.  No, I take that back.  Brent, daddy of the year, was in the pool with the kids throwing them in the water while they did flips and dives.

Yesterday was sunny and beautiful but FREEZING.  We were on the beach in sweatshirts and jackets.  The Gulf was as wild as it is on hurricane days and the kids were in awe.  They had NEVER seen such waves (deprived children).  They loved it.  And we didn’t take our eyes off them as they got braver and braver.  Declan and Calli both got tossed by the waves and got fished out.

Later in the day we went up to North Jetty, the favorite surfing beach near us.  I remember one hurricane when I went up there and saw 50 to 100 surfers.   But it evidently wasn’t the right surf for surfers…none there…But, there WERE dolphins in the channel and tons and tons of shells… Successful trip.

The kids put on a talent show for us after dinner.  Hilarious.  Declan looks like a baby Elvis….what a wild man.

Another chilly day.  We’ll stall them and head for the beach later on when it’s a bit warmer.

I’m hoping to take the girls to yoga one of these days.  We’ve been moving really slowly in the morning.

Still having some trouble swallowing but nothing major.  I’m doing much better than I was earlier in the week and (finally) are beginning to gain a little weight. Thank goodness.  And I’m getting stronger…lasting longer.  When I’m tired, I take a nap or relax and let people wait on me.  Life is good.

  1. Children can play anywhere, anytime, in any conditions…wish we’d get some of that back!

Love seeing the dolphins! When we were down we went to Venice beach and a huge school of stingrays went by close to shore. Everyone was thrilled!
