We’ve been away since November 7, first to Los Angeles, then to Houston and then to Flower Mound (near Dallas) And hard as it was to say goodbye to people we love, we’re glad to be home. Last week, we went to a gorgeous park in Flower Mound for family pictures. Obviously, this is not one of the better ones (poor Calli is blocked out) but it certainly captures Declan and Lana perfectly. And it perfectly shows the incredibly gorgeous weather…mid 70s. The next day the kids needed winter jackets (mid-30s) and we were on our way back to Florida.
I went to see A Theory of Everything this week. Incredibly powerful story and the acting was stunning. I really didn’t know much about Stephen Hawking. Incredible man…brilliant man…invincible man…to accomplish so much after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. And I can’t imagine how his wife did it. She took care of him for so long….and then HE leaves HER? Whoa! I mean I thought Jerry was incredible for all he did last year but he had a pretty good idea there would it wouldn’t be forever; that it was going to get better. Jane Hawking just knew that it could only get worse…and she hung in there for a long, long time. I have a feeling this movie is going to walk away with a bunch of awards.
My friend, Mary Anne, had a nasty time after her first chemo treatment. She’s finally feeling human again but do keep her in your prayers. I think her next chemo treatment is next Friday. I just had it so good last year. I kept waiting for it to get worse. They kept warning me that it would most likely get worse, that side effects were cumulative. It just never got worse. Everyone’s body chemistry is so different. Anyway, keep Mary Anne in your prayers. She’s tough and she’s strong and she will gladly take all the prayers and good thoughts she can get!
