Day Two of the Hop On, Hop Off bus tour. We had a great time in Hollywood. We went to the La Brea Tar Pits and the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). The Tar Pits were pretty amazing. Who would have thought there would be a major archaeological dig in the middle of the city of LA?
We could have spent a LOT more time in the LACMA. We saw some fascinating photography and some beautiful art including my favorite…Monet. We lasted a long time but had to quit. My back just wouldn’t take any more. (getting old!) We’ll definitely be back there.
Then after lunch we went to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Jerry and I had lots of fun taking pictures of each other with the “stars”. I put a few photos at the end of this piece.
Funny story yesterday from the bus tour. The guide was saying that Santa Monica beach has been used a lot to represent beaches all over the world. They were filming a movie that called for a sunrise. Someone had the great idea to film a sunset on Santa Monica beach and then play it backwards. And it was stunning…the pretend “sunrise” was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the seagulls in the film were flying backwards.
The plan for tomorrow is to rent a car and drive up the coast to Malibu. One of these days we’ll slow down…maybe when we get to Houston!
