Fourth of July

Three Rosses, One Shugart

Three Rosses, One Shugart

There’s a full house at Erin’s this week.   Emma Shugart, my nephew’s daughter, is here and we’re here.  Good thing Erin has a nice big table.  We all fit.  And the kids are loving having Emma around, especially the girls. They play with Legos for hours on end.

Fourth of July was lots of fun.  We hung out at home and in the pool for most of the day, had an early supper and headed out to the Flower Mound Fair and fireworks.  I have no idea where Flower Mound gets their money but the festival.–rides and games–were free.  The lines were reasonable when we first  got there, got a little long as time went on.  We took photos of the kids in line.  It is nearly impossible to get a picture of Declan with his cute smile unless you sneak up on him.  We figure he’ll turn out okay when he grows up (Sean did) but right now, he’s going through the terrible fours.

Fireworks were marvelous.  Traffic getting out was typical.  I lasted all day, thanks to Advil and comfortable chairs.  When we were in line for the kids rides, I’d sit on the grass.  (Unlike Florida grass, I could sit and not worry about fire ants!)

So, life is good.  I’m going to a birthday luncheon with Calli and her American girl doll while Erin takes the other girls shopping at the mall.  The guys are staying home to hang out and swim.

The mini ferris wheel. Girls loved it. Declan, not so much.

Looks like everyone had a grand time there on the 4th. We did, too, but no grandkids this time. They’re coming in August. Wendie

I love how you make the most of every day, Mary! Pool, rides, fireworks, wow! (Even if you were just an observer, that took stamina.) Good luck next week! Just finished Love and Treasure by Ayelet Waldman, which I know you would enjoy. Not as breathtaking as some of the others I’ve read this summer, but really good nonetheless. Saw Wadjja last night with Russ and liked it a lot, So revealing!
